Persimmon Gold
Posted on by Anne

This plump golden orange Oriental fruit, the persimmon, has just appeared in our shops and I can really understand why they were named ‘the divine fruit’ in Ancient times. To taste them in full ripeness is a sensory delight, they are ..’honey to the throat’ (Goblin Market, remarkable poem, by Christina Rossetti), with a delicate flavour of scented mango.
The Intoxicating Amethyst
Posted on by Anne
Amethyst is the most precious of the quartz minerals and the birthstone for the month of February. This particular crystal is the lucky outcome of manganese and iron in clear quartz, creating wonderful varieties of colour from light pinkish violet to deepest purple. It was originally one of the Cardinal Gems, the Old World’s top five stones, sharing glittering stardom with diamonds, emeralds, rubies and sapphires. But its position toppled with the discovery of The New World and rich amethyst mines yielding plentiful quantities in Brazil. The finest amethysts with evenly distributed colour and perfect transparency remain very special. The deep purple Siberian amethyst with its flecks of red and blue are said to command the highest prices.
February Love

February is truly here, transitioning its way from deep winter to early signs of spring in the northern hemisphere. Violets are the symbolic flowers for February, beautiful purple petals, hardy in the face of frosts and snows and hopefully the incessant rain! In fact the Old English name for this month was “Solmonath” translating as the much less romantic “Month of Mud”.

I am very excited to introduce you to my new website! It features a mixture of Modern and Modern Vintage and Bespoke pieces of jewellery.
For the Modern collection I have cast some vintage pieces in 9c gold and silver. So now I can create repeatable jewellery with a vintage inheritance. The inspiration came from loving this 1960’s pewter terrier and wanting to be able to use it in more of my designs.
